- Mid Handicaps: Darkspeed X
- High Handicaps: Darkspeed Max
Performance.
The Cobra Darkspeed is all about speed – it’s like, high-tech speed on steroids.
This bad boy gives you crazy fast ball speeds off the tee, thanks to using space-grade materials and the expertise of aerospace engineers to develop the fastest driver.
Got a slice problem?
No worries, grab the Darkspeed Max with its cool draw-bias design.
Appearance.
Check out the Darkspeed X now – it’s a total glow-up with that matte black finish, way better than before.
Rocking that sleek, blacked-out look, it totally fits the dark, aerospace theme, giving off major speed and power vibes – just what Cobra aimed for.
Those subtle blue accents on the base make it stand out from the Max (in red) and LS (all black) models, a smart move to keep things clear.
Compared to the Aerojet, the Darkspeed X is more compact and deeper. Cobra really nailed the looks in this lineup.
Sound & Feel.
To get the feel for the Cobra DARKSPEED X driver sound, it took me a few swings.
The tone was kinda low compared to the other drivers at the range.
I don’t mind the low ping but its not for everyone.
Now, the clubhead stability was pretty impressive.
Even when I was still getting to know it, my hits were all over the face, but they felt strong and solid.
Features and Benefits.
Refined Aerodynamic Shaping
To improve a golf club’s performance, a seamless aerodynamic design incorporates a raised skirt, symmetrical shape, and streamlined edges, resulting in reduced drag and faster clubhead speed.
Lower And More Forward PWR-BRIDGE
By incorporating a suspended bridge weight design, the golf club’s face and sole can move more freely, and the center of gravity is positioned low and forward. Ultimately, this design results in increased ball speed.
Larger PWRSHELL With Updated H.O.T Face Design
The golf club utilizes a forged PWRSHELL face insert, which allows for maximum flexibility, resulting in higher launch and faster ball speed. Furthermore, the H.O.T Face design, which employs artificial intelligence to create a varying thickness pattern across the face, optimizes the efficiency of both speed and spin.
Tour Inspired Shaping
A carbon fiber crown and sole create a lighter and stronger chassis and allow more weight to be positioned low in the club head for added stability.
Blend of Forgiveness & Spin Control (Darkspeed X)
There’s a second forward weight accompanying the back weight, providing extra control for tuning spin in the driver.
Max Workability With Added Forgiveness (Darkspeed LS)
Now, with the addition of a third back weight, adjustable heel and toe weights are enhanced, providing extra flexibility for fine-tuning spin and forgiveness optimization.
Max Forgiveness & Draw-Biased Control (Darkspeed Max)
You can fine-tune the draw bias in our most forgiving driver head with adjustable back and heel weight positioning.

Is the Cobra Darkspeed driver forgiving?
Yes, the Cobra Darkspeed Driver is incredibly forgiving. With its adjustable loft sleeve and H.O.T Face design, this driver promotes a higher launch and faster ball speed while also providing greater consistency in spin rates – making it easier to hit with precision every time you step on the tee box. Additionally, its low center of gravity also helps ensure improved forgiveness and accuracy, even on off-center hits. With this advanced combination of technologies, the Cobra Darkspeed Driver is one of the most forgiving clubs in its class.
What is Cobra’s best driver?
Cobra’s best driver is the LTDx Max Driver. It is a lightweight driver with an adjustable loft and lay angle setting, allowing you to tailor it perfectly for your game. Its HOT Face technology helps increase the smash factor and ball speed. The CNC Milled infinity face is my favorite club face.
Do any pros use Cobra drivers?
Several pro golfers use Cobra drivers, though not as widely as some brands. Rickie Fowler, Lexi Thompson, Gary Woodland, Jason Dufner, and Ewen Ferguson are current users, while Bryson DeChambeau had past success with them. Remember, pro golfer equipment choices are fluid, so these endorsements may not be permanent.
Executive Summary.
Whether the Cobra DARKSpeed driver is your perfect match depends on your priorities and swing. For low-handicappers seeking maximum distance and workability, the LS and X models offer impressive speed and control. The Max provides added forgiveness for mid-handicappers, while the Ladies model caters to women golfers. If you value feel over raw performance or have a tight budget, consider other options. Ultimately, demoing the DARKSpeeds is the best way to see if they ignite your game or leave you searching for something more. Remember, confidence and compatibility are key to finding your ideal driver, and the DARKSpeeds might just be the answer you’ve been looking for.
